I don’t believe such eyes
tell lies.
I can’t believe when my ears hear
all that I hoped my heart could share,
and now I see nothing instead,
and now nothing is all that’s read.
Those eyes
still lie
in beauty’s bed and heart’s demise,
and so
I try
to see the truth when all else lies.
At least, we know
this truth we see –
not what we’re told,
lies from our worlds
but not our souls,
and so this truth in time we’ll hold.
I do believe
in simple harmony,
and hope,
and pray
that we’ll share truth’s delight one day –
that light
we know
will set us free
and our soul’s glow.
I do believe
those eyes.
